Everything you need to know about setting up OTTPlayer, managing playlists, and getting the best experience on every device.
General
What is OTTPlayer?
OTTPlayer is a free, ad-free IPTV player application available for Android, iOS, Android TV, Fire TV, Google TV, Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, and macOS. It lets you import your own M3U playlist from any IPTV provider and watch live TV channels, manage groups, customize channel order, and access an electronic program guide (EPG). OTTPlayer does not include any built-in channels.
Is OTTPlayer free? Are there any hidden costs?
Yes, OTTPlayer is completely free. There are no subscription fees, no premium upgrades, and no advertisements inside the app. The app is free to download from Google Play, the Apple App Store, the Mac App Store, and as a direct APK for Android TV and Fire TV devices.
Does OTTPlayer come with TV channels?
No. OTTPlayer does not include any built-in TV channels. It is strictly a viewer tool. To use it, you need to provide your own M3U8 playlist URL from a legitimate IPTV service provider or your local cable/internet provider. OTTPlayer then reads that playlist and plays the streams for you.
Which devices does OTTPlayer support?
OTTPlayer is available on:
- Android phones and tablets (Android 5.0+)

Playlists & Setup
How do I add an M3U playlist to OTTPlayer?
There are two ways to add a playlist:
Method 1 (Web): Register a free account at ottplayer.tv, then log in and add your M3U playlist URL from the web dashboard. Log in to the OTTPlayer app with the same credentials and the playlist syncs automatically to all your devices.
Method 2 (Offline/Direct): Open OTTPlayer on your device, go to the Playlist section, and tap "Import a playlist". Enter your M3U URL directly. This method works without an ottplayer.tv account.

Can I add multiple M3U playlists?
Yes. OTTPlayer supports multiple playlists. You can add playlists from different IPTV providers and switch between them easily from within the app. This is useful if you have subscriptions with more than one provider, or if you want to keep personal and work channels separate.
What is the difference between online and offline playlist modes?
Online mode: You log in with your ottplayer.tv account. Your playlists are stored on the OTTPlayer server and sync to all your registered devices automatically.
Offline mode: You import an M3U file directly to the app without needing an account. Playlists are stored locally on the device only and do not sync to other devices.
Offline mode: You import an M3U file directly to the app without needing an account. Playlists are stored locally on the device only and do not sync to other devices.
How do I add an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) to OTTPlayer?
To add an EPG guide, go to your playlist settings in OTTPlayer (or via the ottplayer.tv web dashboard) and enter your XMLTV EPG URL. Many IPTV providers supply an EPG URL alongside the M3U playlist URL — check your provider's welcome email or account panel for this link. Once added, OTTPlayer will display "what's on now" and "coming up next" for each channel.

Is OTTPlayer available for Windows PC?
OTTPlayer does not have a native Windows desktop application. However, you can manage your playlists from any browser at ottplayer.tv. On macOS, there is an official OTTPlayer app on the Mac App Store. Windows users looking for a TV streaming experience can use a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box connected to their monitor or TV via HDMI.
Troubleshooting
My channels are not loading. What should I check?
If your channels are not loading, check the following:
- Verify your internet connection is working properly.
- Confirm your M3U playlist URL is still active — paste it in a browser to test.
- Check that your IPTV subscription has not expired.
- Try refreshing the playlist inside OTTPlayer (pull to refresh or use the refresh option in settings).
- Ensure your device's date and time are set correctly — incorrect time can break stream authentication.
The video is buffering or freezing. How do I fix this?
Buffering issues are almost always related to internet speed or the IPTV provider's server capacity, not OTTPlayer itself. Try these steps:
- Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi if possible.
- Move your device closer to the Wi-Fi router.
- Close other apps or devices using bandwidth on the same network.
- Contact your IPTV provider if the issue affects all channels consistently.
- Try switching to a different stream quality option if your provider offers multiple bitrates.
OTTPlayer is not showing my EPG program guide. Why?
The EPG does not work automatically — it requires a valid XMLTV EPG URL to be configured in your playlist settings. Make sure you have entered an EPG URL from your IPTV provider. Also note that EPG data may take a few minutes to download and display after being added. If the EPG URL is correct but still not showing, try refreshing the playlist.
I forgot my ottplayer.tv password. How do I reset it?
To reset your password, visit the official OTTPlayer website at ottplayer.tv and use the password recovery or forgot password option on the login page. You will receive a password reset link to your registered email address. This site is not affiliated with ottplayer.tv — for account support, contact ottplayer.tv directly.
