How to Install OTTPlayer on Samsung Smart TV (Tizen)

A complete guide to install OTTPlayer on Samsung Smart TVs running Tizen OS — compatible with 2016 and newer Samsung models.

Compatible Samsung models: This guide applies to Samsung Smart TVs released in 2016 or later running Tizen OS. Older Samsung TVs running Smart TV (pre-2014) or the Orsay platform are not supported. Check your TV model in Settings → Support → About TV.

Part 1 — Enable Developer Mode on Your Samsung TV
1
Open the Samsung Smart Hub
Press the Home button on your Samsung remote to open the Smart Hub. Make sure your TV is connected to the internet before proceeding.
2
Navigate to the Apps Section
From the Smart Hub home screen, select the Apps icon to open the Samsung App store.
3
Activate Developer Mode
Once you are on the Apps screen, use your remote to press the number sequence 12345 on the on-screen keyboard (do not type in a search box — just press these digits while the Apps page is in focus). A dialog box will appear asking if you want to enable Developer Mode.

On some Samsung remote models you may need to press 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 in sequence on the numeric keypad. The dialog should appear within a few seconds of pressing the sequence.

4
Enter Your PC's IP Address
When the Developer Mode dialog appears, set the toggle to On and enter the IP address of your PC (or laptop) that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV. You will need this IP address for the next steps — find it by opening Command Prompt on your PC and typing ipconfig.
5
Restart the Samsung TV
After confirming Developer Mode is enabled, restart your Samsung TV by holding the Power button and selecting Restart, or by unplugging it for 10 seconds. Developer mode takes effect after the reboot.
Part 2 — Deploy OTTPlayer Using Tizen Studio

What you need: A PC or Mac with Tizen Studio (free download from Samsung) installed, connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Samsung TV.

6
Download and Install Tizen Studio on Your PC
On your PC, download Tizen Studio for free from the official Samsung Developer website. Install it following the on-screen instructions — the IDE package is sufficient, the full package is not required.
7
Download the OTTPlayer Tizen Package (.wgt)
Download the official OTTPlayer Tizen package file (.wgt) from the official OTTPlayer website at ottplayer.tv/soft/samsung. Save the file to a known location on your PC.
8
Connect Tizen Studio to Your Samsung TV
Open Tizen Studio on your PC. Go to Tools → Device Manager. Click the Remote Device Manager button (the icon with a plug symbol). Add a new device and enter your Samsung TV's IP address. You can find your TV's IP in TV Settings → General → Network → Network Status → IP Settings.

Make sure your PC and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If the connection fails, try temporarily disabling your PC's firewall.

9
Connect to the TV — Accept the Pairing Request
Click Connect in Device Manager. A pairing confirmation dialog will appear on your Samsung TV screen. Using your remote, select Allow to authorize the connection from your PC.
10
Install the OTTPlayer .wgt Package
In Tizen Studio, right-click on your connected TV in Device Manager and select Install App. Browse to the OTTPlayer .wgt file you downloaded and select it. Tizen Studio will install the app directly to your Samsung TV.
11
Launch OTTPlayer from Your Samsung TV
On your Samsung TV, press Home and navigate to Apps. OTTPlayer should now appear in your installed apps list. Open it, go to Settings, and enter your ottplayer.tv username and password to load your playlists.

After logging in, your playlists sync automatically from ottplayer.tv. Make sure you have already linked a playlist to your account on the OTTPlayer website before opening the app on TV.

Easier Alternative: Use a Fire TV Stick or Android TV Box

If the Tizen Studio method seems too technical, the simplest way to get OTTPlayer on your Samsung TV screen is to plug in an Amazon Fire TV Stick or any Android TV box into your Samsung TV's HDMI port. OTTPlayer installs in minutes on Fire TV using code 1117533 with the Downloader app.

This method works on any Samsung TV with an HDMI port — no developer mode, no PC required, and you get a full-featured Android TV experience with the latest OTTPlayer version.
