How to Install OTTPlayer on LG Smart TV (WebOS & NetCast)

Install OTTPlayer on your LG Smart TV using a USB flash drive. Supports LG WebOS TVs (2014+) and LG NetCast TVs (2011–2013).

LG WebOS TVs (released 2014 and later) can run OTTPlayer as a widget installed from a USB drive. This method does not require any developer account or special software on your PC — just a USB flash drive formatted to FAT32.

Part 1 — Prepare the USB Drive
1
Download the OTTPlayer WebOS Package on Your PC
On your PC, download the OTTPlayer LG WebOS package file (LG_WebOS_OTTPlayer.zip) from the official OTTPlayer website at ottplayer.tv.
2
Extract the ZIP File to a USB Flash Drive
Insert a USB flash drive into your PC. Extract the contents of LG_WebOS_OTTPlayer.zip directly to the root directory of the USB drive (not inside any folder). Make sure the USB drive is formatted as FAT32.

The extracted files must be at the root level of the USB drive, not inside a subfolder. Verify this before connecting the drive to your TV.

3
Safely Eject the USB Drive
Once the files are copied, safely eject the USB drive from your PC to make sure all data has been written correctly.
Part 2 — Install on Your LG WebOS TV
4
Sign Into Your LG Smart TV Account
Turn on your LG Smart TV and make sure you are signed in to your LG Smart TV account. This is required for the app to be recognized by the Smart Hub.
5
Connect the USB Drive to Your LG TV
Insert the prepared USB flash drive into any available USB port on your LG TV.
6
Wait for the OTTPlayer Widget to Appear
When a notification about the new USB device appears on screen, press the Home button on your remote. Navigate to the right in the Launcher bar — you should see the OTTPlayer widget appear in the list of apps.

If the widget does not appear immediately, try pressing Home again or wait 10–15 seconds after the USB notification appears.

7
Launch OTTPlayer and Configure Your Settings
Select the OTTPlayer widget from the Launcher and open it. On first launch, a pop-up will appear asking you to enter your registration details. Go to Settings and fill in your ottplayer.tv username and password. Press OK on the on-screen keyboard to save each field.

To save any setting, select the OK button on the on-screen keyboard and press OK on your remote. Pressing Back without saving will discard your changes.

8
Save Settings and Start Watching
After entering all settings, press the Red button on your LG remote to save all changes. If you press Back instead, all changes will be lost. Once saved, your playlists will load and you can start navigating channels immediately.
9
Register Your Device on ottplayer.tv
After first login, you will be asked to register your LG TV as a new device or choose one of your existing registered devices. Once registered, go to ottplayer.tv on any browser and link your M3U playlist to this device. Press the Red button in the app to refresh and load your channels without restarting.

LG NetCast TVs (2011–2013 models) use a different platform from WebOS. The installation method is similar but uses a different package file. The steps below apply to LG NetCast TVs.

Part 1 — Prepare the USB Drive
1
Download the OTTPlayer NetCast Package
On your PC, download the OTTPlayer LG NetCast package (LG_NetCast_OTTPlayer.zip) from the official OTTPlayer website at ottplayer.tv.
2
Extract the ZIP File to the Root of a USB Drive
Extract the contents of LG_NetCast_OTTPlayer.zip directly to the root directory of a USB flash drive (FAT32 format). Do not place the files inside any subfolder.

Important for 2011 LG models: The USB drive must be inserted into the upper USB slot labeled "USB APPS". Using the wrong USB port will prevent the app from being recognized.

Part 2 — Install on Your LG NetCast TV
3
Connect the USB Drive to Your LG NetCast TV
Insert the USB drive into the correct USB port on your LG TV. For 2011 models, use the upper USB APPS slot. For other years, any USB port should work.
4
Sign In to Smart TV on Your LG NetCast TV
Make sure you are signed in to your LG Smart TV account on the TV. Then navigate to the Smart TV section from the remote.
5
Go to "My Apps" and Switch to USB Apps Mode
Navigate to My Apps in the bottom-right corner of the LG Smart TV interface. Then switch the app display mode to "My Apps on USB" using the filter or mode toggle in the app section.
6
Launch the OTTPlayer App
OTTPlayer will appear in the USB Apps list. Select it and press OK to launch the application.
7
Enter Your Login Details and Configure
On first launch, go to Settings inside the app. Enter your ottplayer.tv username and password. Select the OK button on the on-screen keyboard and press OK on your remote to save. Press the Red button on your remote to save all settings before exiting.

After any setting change, always press the Red button to save. Pressing Back will lose all unsaved changes.

8
Register Your Device and Link Your Playlist
After first login, register your LG TV as a new device in OTTPlayer. Then visit ottplayer.tv on any browser and link your M3U playlist to this device. Press the Red button in the app to refresh and load your channels without needing to restart.

Easier Alternative: Use a Fire TV Stick via HDMI

If the USB installation method seems complicated, an easier solution is to plug an Amazon Fire TV Stick into your LG TV's HDMI port. OTTPlayer installs in minutes using the Downloader app with code 1117533.

This works on any LG TV with an HDMI port — no USB, no account setup, and you get the full Android TV experience with automatic app updates.
